Editorial standards and authorship

This page exists so that readers — and anyone evaluating the site — can see the working method behind the articles, rather than having to guess at it from the writing itself.

Who writes this site

Zodiac Quill is written and edited by its operator, who is identified on the articles as the byline shown at the top of each page. Articles on this site are not bought, ghost-written, or syndicated from elsewhere, and they are not produced by a committee that the site invents to look larger than it is.

There is no claimed newsroom, no listed office address, and no roster of staff degrees. That is a deliberate choice rather than an omission. Astrology writing is full of sites that borrow authority by appointing imaginary experts, and a reader has no way to check. We would rather state the actual arrangement: a small independent publication, one editor, no invented credentials.

What that means in practice is that the quality of a page has to stand on the page. If an article is weak, there is no authority to hide behind, and no second reviewer to blame.

How articles are written

Articles on zodiac signs and astrology guides follow a consistent method.

1. Start from the tradition, not the personality. Each sign essay works through symbol, historical background, and what traditional texts and later popular writing actually say, before reaching the sections readers expect such as strengths or compatibility.
2. Mark where modern usage begins. Zodiac Quill distinguishes older material from twentieth-century additions. Where a claim comes from modern popular astrology rather than Hellenistic or medieval sources, the article says so.
3. Use cautious verbs as house style. Phrases such as "astrology traditionally associates" and "people born under this sign are often described as" are deliberate. They keep a descriptive sentence from reading as a claim about a person.
4. Show the mechanism. Guides aim to explain how a part of the system works — what an element grouping is, why a house is counted from the horizon — so the reader can evaluate the tradition rather than simply receive it.
5. Keep the reader inside the site. Pages link to the related sign essays, guides, and definitions they depend on, so a reader can follow a term back to its explanation.

Sources and images

Historical statements are drawn from published material on the history of astrology and the history of astronomy, and are written so that the general claim can be checked against standard reference works. Where an article names a primary artefact — a nineteenth-century star card, a Babylonian omen list, a Hellenistic scheme of planetary rulership — it is naming something a reader can go and look up.

Photographs and historical images carry their sources and licences on the Image Credits page, including the public-domain status of the nineteenth-century material and the Creative Commons terms of modern astronomical photography. Where a later reprint of an old work is still under copyright, we use an earlier public-domain source instead and say so.

What this site does not claim

Zodiac Quill does not claim that astrology is scientifically established, that it predicts events, or that a sign determines a person's character. The Disclaimer sets out the limits in full. In short: astrology is treated here as a cultural and interpretive tradition, presented so that it can be studied, not as a method for making decisions about health, money, or law.

The site also does not claim that its sign descriptions are measurements of anything. They are accounts of what a tradition says.

Corrections

Errors happen, particularly with historical dates and with the attribution of ideas to the right century. Corrections are welcome and are made in the article itself rather than quietly. If you believe a page is wrong, email the address below with the page and the specific sentence; where a correction changes the meaning of a passage, the article's update date changes with it.

Advertising and editorial independence

The site is supported by display advertising served by third-party vendors including Google. Advertisers have no involvement in what is published. This site does not accept sponsored posts, paid links, or guest-post placements, and an advertisement appearing next to an article is not an endorsement of the advertiser, its products, or its claims. The distinction matters more than usual for a site in this subject area, where paid placements are common and are frequently made to look like ordinary articles. Nothing on this site is paid placement.
